I Ask Family Night Friday, April 23
On Friday, April 26, The Haven Shelter & Services will be hosting a family night to help parents talk to their children about consent.
Led by our Community Resilience Coordinator, Chad Lewis, teens 13+ and their parents/guardians will discuss consent, when and how to ask for consent, why consent matters, and more.
Children 12 and under will have the opportunity to work with our Child and Family Resilience Coordinator, Deanna Lavery, to develop healthy ways to express consent and to set personal boundaries.
The event’s theme corresponds with the National Sexual Violence Resource Center’s 2019 Sexual Assault Awareness Month theme of “I Ask”, which champions the message that asking for consent is a healthy, normal, and necessary part of everyday interactions.
Register by April 25, 2019 via email with the number of people attending and ages of youth attending to firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at (804) 333-1099.
Event is FREE to the public with dinner included for participants.
Childcare will be provided for children under 5 years old.
