Parent Child Development Corporation Board Member
The Parent Child Development Corporation of Virginia (PCDC) is the non-profit 501(C)3 oversight organization that manages the Head Start, Early Head Start and Smart Start programs across seven Virginia counties: Charles City, Gloucester, King & Queen, King William, Mathews, Middlesex, New Kent, and the Town of West Point. With an unblemished federal audit PCDC is recognized as managing one of the best and most recognized programs in the state. Through the programs it manages, PCDC provides healthcare, nutritional counseling, educational and family support services to at-risk children from birth to five years old and to their families. Recent recognition of its continuing success has resulted in new grants that allow for increasing the number of children to whom it can deliver services. As a result of this recent growth, PCDC is seeking to expand its Board of Directors to include representatives from a wider range of professional disciplines and perspectives and who live in coverage counties. The current state of directors has made great strides in advancing the standing of the Head Start, Early Head Start, and Smart Start programs in the region. Anyone interested in exploring the possibility of serving on the PCDC Board of Directors should send their credentials, and a brief cover letter outlining the value they would bring to the board, and to our children, to amarquardt@pcdcva.org.
