NNSWCD Scholarship Offerings for two students to attend Holiday Lake Forestry Camp
The Northern Neck Soil & Water Conservation District will provide scholarships for two area students 13 -16 years of age to attend the 2012 summer Holiday Lake Forestry Camp. This camp is for students who have an interest in forestry, wildlife or related conservation activities and have good academic standing. This year’s camp will be held June 18-23, 2012, at the Holiday Lake 4-H Education Center located within the 20,000 acre Appomattox-Buckingham State Forest. This working forest provides a vast outdoor classroom for interactive learning. \r\nThe Virginia Department of Forestry, in cooperation with natural resource conservation agencies and organizations, has proudly administered Holiday Lake Forestry Camp for more than 60 years. This unique camping experience has introduced young Virginians to the challenges, special skills and knowledge needed for managing the forest resources we use and enjoy every day. \r\nHoliday Lake ecology clubs. Classes are taught in the woods by professional foresters, wildlife biologists, and conservation resource specialists.
