The hiring salary range for this position is $54,865 - $59,254 +/- DOQ Under direction, performs administrative and supervisory work directing the operation of the recreation and programming functions within the Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department. Employee must exercise initiative and independent judgment in ensuring that programs and services meet the needs of the community. Employee must exercise tact and courtesy in contact with public officials, agency representatives, employees, volunteers and the general public. Reports to the Director of Parks, Recreation and Tourism.
- Examples of Duties: Manages the administration of the department's recreation programs and services to include development and oversight of a comprehensive recreational program, budgets, training programs, supervision and evaluation of full-time and part-time staff.
- Supervises County-sponsored recreational programs, classes and events for youth, adult, older adult and special populations. Reviews programs and special events to measure effectiveness and efficiency. Directs changes and improvements as warranted.
- Manages marketing initiatives for the Department including websites, social media, the Beehive and other media. Creates guidelines for efficient and effective promotions. Develops and creates marketing pieces to advertise departmental activities and events. Oversees and approves supplemental marketing developed by other staff for programs and the Daffodil Festival. Prepares and submits press releases. Performs desktop publishing to create, layout and edit a variety of marketing/promotional materials.
Qualifications: Possession of a Bachelor's Degree in recreation, physical education, or a related field. Master's Degree preferred. Three (3) to five (5) years of progressively responsible management and supervisory experience in recreation work. Special Requirements: Possession of a valid driver's license; possess and maintain a driving record that meets established Gloucester County Driving Standards. Possession of Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) designation preferred.
